Krishna bags foreign, Mamata rlys

New Delhi: In a bid to project a business-like attitude as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh begins his second term, the government announced the portfolios of half-a-dozen ministers on Saturday instead of waiting until Tuesday when the next round of ministers, including those from the DMK, is expected to take oath.

As expected, Pranab Mukherjee is the new finance minister, P Chidambaram will be in charge of home affairs, former Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna is the new foreign minister and A K Antony keeps charge of defence.

After the cabinet meeting, Chidambaram said he hoped the budget would be passed by July 31, adding that if it was not done a short vote-on-account could be needed.

Trinamul Congress leader Mamata Banerjee was on Saturday appointed the new railway minister, while NCP boss Sharad Pawar retains omnibus charge of agriculture, food, civil supplies and public distribution.

"Azam Khan was involved in anti-party activities for a long time. Despite the national leadership's request he continued indisciplined behaviour and did not attend party meetings due to which he has been expelled from the party for six years," SP state president Shivpal Singh Yadav said.

Who’s gonna be a Hollywood bride?
Six top Bollywood actresses under scanner for two roles in remake

A leading Hollywood studio is looking at remaking one of its popular films of 2009 in Hindi, for which it is taking a Bollywood producer’s help, and in which top actresses like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin and Sonam Kapoor are being considered for the two leading roles.

The Hollywood film under consideration is the romantic comedy of this year — Bride Wars, starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. In its official Bollywood remake, the film will be one big fat Punjabi wedding with plenty of colour, song and dance, drama, fireworks, the whole nine yards.

Shrishti Behl — director Goldie’s sister, who produced Drona last year, is the Bollywood filmmaker contacted to work on this project. Confirming her participation, Shristi said, “The days of plagiarism are over. Official remakes are the way to go. And Bride Wars lends itself beautifully to an Indian adaptation.”

BIPS MOVES IN WITH JOHN

It’s not quite like the last Bollywood horror film 13-B, but yes, this tale does involve a house... and, trying to live in that house, is Bollywood hottie Bipasha Basu!

Bips, who has a penthouse in a Santacruz high-rise, was forced to move out when this place took a beating in the savage rains of 26/7 in 2005.

“I had to get my home renovated after that horrible incident,’’ said the Bengali beauty, who moved into a rented apartment a few lanes away while the interior work began in her devastated penthouse.

And here comes the twist in the tale. “I started getting a lot of negative vibes,” admitted Bipasha, “I just didn’t feel good living there.” What’s worse — since it was a rented place, she had to send her pet dog Poshto, a Chihuahua the actress absolutely dotes on, to live with her parents at their suburban home.

But the bad vibes in rented apartment really took their toll on her in the last couple of months. And finally Bips locked up the place and began virtually living out of a suitcase.

“I’m even endorsing a luggage brand only for this,’’ she joked.

She’s started looking forward to outdoor shoots now, the actress said, “because this way I don’t have to go around Mumbai looking for a roof over my head”.

Lest you get the idea that the Bengali bomshell is on the lookout for PG accommodation, chill... While her own apartment is still two months away from completion, and Bips is planning a puja and a “nice, big housewarming party there’’, she alternatively takes up residence with either her parents or beau John Abraham. He, too, has a penthouse at Land’s End in Bandra. And it’s big enough for two!

Investment & Wealth Creation Advice:

Please note that our advice is primarily for investors and not for speculators. Investors typically invest with 12-60 month investment perspective. You will therefore find that our advice does not change substantially from issue to issue.

We expect Sensex to come down to 8000-9000 level in the next few months. We expect Aug-Oct 09 period to be a very good period for making investments in good stocks / mutual funds in India. So, do plan your investments in advance.

Also, those who want to invest in realty in India should wait for some time as the flat and land prices are expected to come down substantially in the next 3-4 quarters.

Do consult your investment advisor before making any investment decisions.

Do not purchase shares of a good company at a wrong price. Also, do not purchase shares of a bad company even at a very low price.

Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio to de-risk. Do not put more than 33% of your investible funds in stocks and/or mutual funds. Put 33% in Fixed-Interest instruments and the remaining 33% in real estate when real estate prices are low.

Do not invest in stocks, mutual funds or realty when their prices are quite high. From the high levels, these prices normally come down by about 40-50% and that is when many people lose their hard earned money in a big way.

Make sure that you are not one of those big losers.

Make sure that you invest when prices are low (and that is the case in 2009) and divest when prices are high (which will be the case in Q1-2011).

Please note that Aug-Oct 2009 is expected to be a great period for investing your money in stocks & mutual funds in India.
