Aag lagao: Chilling LeT orders to Mumbai killers (TOI,Mum,02Jan08,Pg1)
Phone Intercepts Show Pak Bosses Calmly Directing Ops
For a terror group that masterminded an atrocity of the scale of 26/11 and grabbed global attention, the Lashkare-Taiba handlers of the Mumbai attackers directed their jihadi charges in a ruthlessly calm and calculated manner.
According to sources, details of Voice over Internet Protocol calls between the jihadis holed up in the Taj and Trident hotels and Nariman House and their Lashkar bosses in Pakistan provide a chilling account of the remorseless efficiency with which the massacre of innocents was choreographed.
Talking in rustic Punjabi, they asked them to lob grenades at the commandos and move to positions from where they could direct fire at the challengers. “Aag lagao, aag lagao’’ the terrorists were repeatedly told, obviously in an attempt to maximise casualties.
B’lore may house 100-floor tower, India’s tallest (TOI,Mum,02Jan08,Pg1)
Here’s some scintillating news that’s sure to cheer Bangaloreans as they welcome 2009. The city will soon be home to India’s tallest tower. The Karnataka government proposes to construct a 100-storeyed trade centre on the lines of New York’s erstwhile World Trade Center. Proposed locations are either the Race Course or the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL) land at Rajajinagar.

India: Hot destination for luxury brands!
Time to roll out the red carpet for the Porsche and the Prada, and you can even throw in a twinkling tiara for good measure. Consumption of luxury retail goods in 2009 is not going to take a knock, not by a long shot.
The new year is set to see top-end Italian, French and Australian retailers scurrying to set foot in the market, and marquee malls will vie for marquee brands. For a section of the cognoscenti, who would sniff at mingling with bargain-hunters at some luxe mall, special, private screenings are being organised to herald in the new year.

Inflation falls to 10-month low at 6.38% (ET,Mum,02Jan08,Pg9)
The inflation rate slid to a 10-month low of 6.38% for the week ended December 20. The rate of inflation has more than halved from a 16-year high of 12.92% in the first week of August. The dip in rates for the tenth straight week, along with the fall in 10-year federal bonds yields to May 2004 levels, raises hopes of an interest rate cut.
Infosys may integrate IT & BPO operations to cut costs, add value (ET,Mum,02Jan08,Pg5)
INFOSYS Technologies is looking at ways of increasing synergies with its BPO arm. In addition to easier movement of executives between the IT and BPO arms, the tech bellweather is also working on integration and business plans to maximise profits.

Om Shanti Om! It’s SRK, Farah & Deepika again (BT,Mum,02Jan08,Pg1)
... the three get together for his home production
Together, they rocked in 2007 with Om Shanti Om. Now, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Farah Khan are back again in Billu Barber. Farah, of course, is getting SRK and Deepika to dance to her tune again.
The film, his home production, is much hyped already and slated for release on February 13. And the Bollywood Badshah and his OSO leading hottie sizzle in a song Love Mera Hit Hai Hit Hai.
Deepika, who has always been an ardent SRK admirer, added, “Working with them is special because Shah Rukh and Farah are the two people I have started my career with. I am glad he asked me. Farah these days has become very selective and will not take up anything unless it excites her, so it’s all the more reason for me to be a part of this song. We relived so many memories, I felt I was going back to the sets of OSO. It was so much fun.”
Meanwhile Shah Rukh, who credits the success of his previous hit to newcomer Deepika, is happy to work with her again. “It was sweet of her to agree. She is very talented and works hard. Working with the younger lot is really a learning process. They are so much fun, confident, and aware. They are all my future investments,” he laughed.
