Pak hints at Indian involvement in attack on Lanka cricket team
LAHORE: Indian involvement in the terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team cannot be ruled out, Lahore Commissioner Khushro Pervaiz was quoted as saying Tuesday.
India was trying to weaken Pakistan, added Gen (retired) Hameed Gul, a former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
He told Geo News that India wanted to declare Pakistan a terrorist state and the firing on the Sri Lankan team was related to that conspiracy.
Six escorting security personnel were killed and six Sri Lankan cricketers as well as the assistant coach were injured when the team cavalcade was targeted by heavily armed gunmen close to the Gaddafi Stadium while they were going to play the third day of the second Test against Pakistan.
Cong may field Preity from Himachal seat (TOI,Mum,03Mar09,Pg16)
Shimla: The Congress is likely to field Bollywood actor Preity Zinta against Anurag Thakur, BJP MP and son of Himachal Pradesh CM Prem Kumar Dhumal from the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency, party sources said.
The sources said the party brass is convincing the actor to chose Hamirpur as her family belongs to the district. During the last assembly polls, she was offered one of the assembly segments of the Hamirpur LS constituency, but she declined.
‘1 lakh Indians to return from US in 3-5 yrs’ (TOI,Mum,03Mar09,Pg20)
Washington: Indians and Chinese are returning home in droves from the US, with over 100,000 each expected to wing back to their home country over the next three to five years.
The principal reason for the reverse flight is not US visa restrictions, as is generally believed, but the enduring lure of family and friends, and new professional opportunities back home.
A new study released here on Monday has several such surprising and unexpected revelations, including the fact that a vast majority of those returning are relatively young —the average age of Indians was 30, and of Chinese was 33. The majority (89.8 % of Indians and 72.4 % of Chinese) were male; most (72.7 % of Indians and 67.1 % of Chinese) were married.
The study shows that even those who are permanently settled in the US are choosing to return. Among the respondents who have already returned, 26.9 % of Indians and 34 % of Chinese held green cards or US Citizenship.
A third of the Chinese respondents were in the US on student visas, in comparison with about a fifth of Indians. Around 19.8 % of the Chinese and 48.0 % of the Indians were on temporary work visas.
Congress may ease work permits for nurses (TOI,Mum,03Mar09,Pg20)
In what could prove a boon for nurses in India aspiring to work abroad, US is contemplating a legislation to make it easier for nurses to get work permits in the US.
Re at lifetime low, nears 52 to a dollar (TOI,Mum,03Mar09,Pg21)
Rupee fell sharply by around 1.5% on Monday to close at an all-time low of Rs 51.93 per dollar, mainly due to weak sentiment, following the announcement of poor export figure and increased demand for the greenback from importers, hedgers and arbitrageurs. The rupee fell 6.2% in 2009.

‘I’m here to stay’ (BT,Mum,03Mar09,Pg32)
Asin received the Best Debutante Award, but the lovely girl felt a bit “weird” about it.
“It feels a little funny to receive a debut award after you’ve done a few films. But yes, Ghajini is my first Hindi film. I got a Filmfare Award even for my South Ghajini at the South Filmfare awards. I enjoy cinema, be it Bollywood or South. I love the grandeur of these awards and I’m not going to leave Bollywood so soon. I’m addicted to it already. But that doesn’t make South cinema any less. I love South cinema, and will continue to be a part of it for as long as I live. I’ll do movies in whichever part of India, the only pre-requisite is that the script has to be interesting,” she says.
So that’s the North and South of Asin’s story so far!
Guess who’s in a ‘cheery’ mood? (BT,Mum,03Mar09,Pg32)
Genelia D’Souza was a stunner on the night of the Idea Filmfare Awards. Dressed in a lovely black gown with dangling diamond earrings, the most common question the girl was asked was: Nervous about your nomination? She simply said, “For the nth time, I haven’t been nominated! Sad but true!” Quickly lightening up, she informed us that she was indeed glad that Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na had been nominated in a number of categories.
“So I’ve come here to cheer for it and to cheer for Imran who’s hosting the show. That’s going to be interesting,” she explained. We thought the two were in the cold vibes mode for a bit?
Seems like the ice is thawing here. But that’s another thing about Bollywood, jaane tu ya jaane na!

Investment & Wealth Creation Advice:
Please note that our advice is primarily for investors and not for speculators. Investors typically invest with 12-60 month investment perspective. You will therefore find that our advice does not change substantially from issue to issue.
We expect Sensex to come down to 7000-8000 level in the next few months. So, it is going to be a very good time for investments in good stocks.
Also, those who want to invest in realty in India should wait for some time as the flat and land prices are expected to come down substantially in the next 3-4 quarters.
Do consult your investment advisor before making any investment decisions.
Do not purchase shares of a good company at a wrong price. Also, do not purchase shares of a bad company even at a very low price.
Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio to de-risk. Do not put more than 33% of your investible funds in stocks or mutual funds. Do not invest in stocks, mutual funds or realty when their prices are quite high. From the high levels, these prices normally come down by about 40-50% and that is when many people lose their hard earned money in a big way.
Make sure that you are not one of those big losers. Make sure that you invest when prices are low and divest when prices are high. Please note that 2009 is going to be a great year for investing your money in stocks, mutual funds & realty in India.
