‘I make good films even when I’m not in them’ (BT,Mum,23Feb09,Pg1)
SRK, at home after his surgery, has slowed down and is letting life catch up with him...
Shah Rukh Khan was on the phone yesterday evening, calling from Mannat, where he spent his first weekend in captivity.
Last week’s shoulder arthroscopy is keeping him indoors. And he’ll be home for a while. “Strapped up most of the time, waiting for the muscle to stick to the bone, it’s been nailed into position and will take a couple of months... the nails are the size of ballpoint tips, they will dissolve in two years,” he said in some agony.
He’s waiting for the sutures to be removed in eight or ten days. But the painkillers are making him groggy. And he’s been dozing off every two-three hours. Sleeping is difficult, so he’s got a special bed for the purpose; the back goes up and down, he’s been sleeping at 90 degrees almost, in a sitting position.
Like a hospital bed? “No, it’s a designer bed,” replied SRK showing signs through the pain and grogginess of his ready wit. He’s started physiotherapy. “It’s minimal movement,” he explained, “I wrap up the Bombay Times in my fingers, my hand hanging by my side, it’s like doing a bicep curl.”
In the meanwhile, reports coming in of his February 13 release Billu have been cheering him up.
“They are good reports, the film started slowly... but it’s picking up. Overseas, it did better. I didn’t think it was an overseas Hindi film at all. I compare it to my earlier films. Like Om Shanti Om. Till Thursday, it did around 50 per cent of OSO’s business... which is fantastic, because Billu is a cheaper, Rs 35 crore film. I think by this weekend, it will get to the level of an average hit... by which I mean the producer recovers his money and about 25 per cent more, so everybody earns a profit. Every film has its own life and this one has crossed my expectation. People liked it more than I expected. But wait for the second week’s figures, plus the sale of music and satellites. I think it’s a good film. An ideal film is Chak De! India... it was not expensive to make, was a huge critical success and a box-office hit as well. So was Munnabhai MBBS. Billu has an unexpected ending, and a heartening message, it’s thrilled and touched audiences. Even those who didn’t go ga-ga over the film have said they liked the ending. This is the first time since OSO that I’m not making a full-fledged SRK film. Now distributors know, whether I’m in it or not, Red Chillies Entertainment makes good films.”

Investment & Wealth Creation Advice:
Please note that our advice is primarily for investors and not for speculators. Investors typically invest with 12-60 month investment perspective. You will therefore find that our advice does not change substantially from issue to issue.
We expect Sensex to come down to 7000-8000 level in the next few months. So, it is going to be a very good time for investments in good stocks.
Also, those who want to invest in realty in India should wait for some time as the flat and land prices are expected to come down substantially in the next 3-4 quarters.
Do consult your investment advisor before making any investment decisions.
Do not purchase shares of a good company at a wrong price. Also, do not purchase shares of a bad company even at a very low price.
Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio to de-risk. Do not put more than 33% of your investible funds in stocks or mutual funds. Do not invest in stocks, mutual funds or realty when their prices are quite high. From the high levels, these prices normally come down by about 40-50% and that is when many people lose their hard earned money in a big way.
Make sure that you are not one of those big losers. Make sure that you invest when prices are low and divest when prices are high. Please note that 2009 is going to be a great year for investing your money in stocks, mutual funds & realty in India.
