MUMBAI UNDER SIEGE

It's war. 800 army men, 200 NSG (National Security Guard) commandos and nearly 20,000 local policemen have been battling to free hostages.

Even 50 hours after the terrorists struck Mumbai on Wednesday evening at 9.20 pm, a few terrorists are still there in Taj Mahal Hotel. In the last 50 hours, over 157 people were killed including 51 at the VT (CST) railway station and 350+ were injured. Three TOP ranking police officers & one army officer lost their lives during this operation in addition to 17 more policemen and soldiers.

Terrorists killed 5 hostages today in Nariman House, which is a Jewish center, near the Taj Mahal Hotel. The terrorists were killed this evening by NSG commandos who also lost one of their colleagues in the operation for which NSG commandos descended from helicopters early today onto the roof of Nariman House.

NSG has brought situation at the Oberoi hotel under control. There are no terrorists in the hotel now.

A couple of terrorists who have been captured alive are from Pakistan. About 15 of them came by a small boat to south Mumbai. They got off the boats and entered the hotels which are sea facing. All terrorists were in 20-25 age group. They looked like young tourists. They all had shoulder bags in which they carried automatic guns, grenades and dry fruits for survival. It appears that some of the terrorists were already staying in the hotels for a few days as one of the rooms was having bags full of ammunition. They also used satellite phones to talk to their people in Karachi.

A news item said that the terrorists released many Russians without hurting them. (They checked their passports.)

Three Germans, Two Australians, a Briton, a Japanese, a Canadian and an Italian were killed in the attack.

The terrorists did not put any condition for releasing hostages. They either released them or killed them.

It appears that their objective was to destabilize the Indian economy by making five star hotels unsafe for staying and thereby affecting flow of business visitors and tourists from abroad.

Investment & Wealth Creation Advice:

As indicated by us a few weeks ago, Sensex has come down substantially. It is expected to go down further by about 1000-2000 points in the next few weeks. However, nobody can ever predict how much it will go down further.

You should now consider making systematic investments over the next few weeks after taking investment expert's advice. If you are planning to invest amount X in the next couple of months in equity shares / mutual funds, then invest 10% of the amount now, as the market may go down further. After a week or so, you could invest another 10% and so on.

If you make investments in the right shares and mutual funds when the market is at 10000 or lower levels, you can expect minimum 20% (post-tax) compounded annual returns in the next 3 years.
