‘I DIDN’T WANT TO REMIX JAI HO!’ (BT,Mum,23Mar09,Pg1)
Pussycat Dolls lead singer says she was scared to recreate AR Rahman’s work
A R Rahman’s remixed version of Jai Ho by the Pussycat Dolls (PCD) has rocked the West and got rave reviews too. But surprisingly, it is now learned that lead singer Nicole Scherzinger never wanted to do this version!
Nicole, who otherwise loves everything Indian — especially dressing up in colourful bindis and dupatas, is quoted on the website Desi Hits! “I was scared, I was afraid to let people hear it, I really didn’t want to do it,” she told Anjula Achari Bath of the website.
The sexy singer was hesitant not because she didn’t like the song, but because the song was already amazing. “I didn’t want to recreate Rahman’s work,” said Nicole, who was inspired by the film and emotionally touched by the track.
Music producer Jimmy Iovine brought the idea of remixing Jai Ho to Nicole. After giving it a lot of thought and after talking things over with him, she thought it would be a great opportunity to put her own English translation into the song.
She knew this was a difficult task as she highly respected the original track. “I prayed every night to do this right,” she said. She was so moved by the film that she wanted to be sure to incorporate themes from Slumdog Millionaire such as destiny and love into the song.
Nicole has never been to India but now wants to do charity work here. “I know Jessica (Jessica Sutta, another member of PCD) has already been to Rishikesh and is strongly involved with a charity that works towards improving the lives of children there and I want to go to the orphanages of India,” she said.
Want to conceive? Try wild, energetic sex (TOI,Mum,23Mar09,Pg16)
Fully Stimulated Men Enjoying Intercourse Ejaculate Up To 50% More Sperm, Say Researchers
London: Move over books, special diets and voodoo — couples trying for a baby should concentrate on having wild and uninhibited sex, or “gourmet sex”.
The better their quality of lovemaking, the greater their chances of conception, scientists say. According to Allan Pacey, a senior lecturer in andrology at Sheffield University, gourmet sex — where both partners take time to ensure the other has a satisfying experience — gives a couple the best chance of producing a baby.
“Couples who are trying to have a baby often mention that the sex becomes a bit of a chore, a bit mechanical and routine. That’s the wrong thing to be doing,” the Guardian quoted Pacey, as saying.
“The sex should be as wild and thrilling as it was when they first met, when they weren’t thinking about babies, to give them the maximum possible chance of having a baby,” added Pacey, secretary of the British Fertility Society.
Usually, about 250 million sperm are produced during intercourse. However, men who are fully stimulated because they are enjoying gourmet sex ejaculate up to 50% more than that, according to research revealed in a Channel 4 documentary.
An extra five minutes of sexual activity before ejaculation can produce an extra 25 million sperm, said Pacey. That, plus the fact the extra sperm released are of a higher standard, means there is a greater chance of the sperm and egg fusing to create a new life.
“The better the sex, the better the chances of conception,” Joanna Ellington, an American expert in reproductive physiology, says in the programme, ‘The Great Sperm Race’.
As far as females are concerned, Pacey explained that more orgasms equal not just more pleasure but also enhanced fertility.
“When a woman experiences an orgasm, we think the intensity of the muscular contractions she has during the big pressure changes going on in her body helps to pull or suck up the sperm into her cervix and from there into the uterus,” the expert explained.

Investment & Wealth Creation Advice:
Please note that our advice is primarily for investors and not for speculators. Investors typically invest with 12-60 month investment perspective. You will therefore find that our advice does not change substantially from issue to issue.
We expect Sensex to come down to 6000-7000 level in the next few months. We expect Aug-Oct 09 period to be a very good period for making investments in good stocks / mutual funds in India. So, do plan your investments in advance.
Also, those who want to invest in realty in India should wait for some time as the flat and land prices are expected to come down substantially in the next 3-4 quarters.
Do consult your investment advisor before making any investment decisions.
Do not purchase shares of a good company at a wrong price. Also, do not purchase shares of a bad company even at a very low price.
Do not put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio to de-risk. Do not put more than 33% of your investible funds in stocks or mutual funds.
Do not invest in stocks, mutual funds or realty when their prices are quite high. From the high levels, these prices normally come down by about 40-50% and that is when many people lose their hard earned money in a big way.
Make sure that you are not one of those big losers.
Make sure that you invest when prices are low and divest when prices are high. Please note that Aug-Oct 2009 is expected to be a great period for investing your money in stocks & mutual funds in India.
